HOS Simulator — Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 3, 2026

Short version: HOS Simulator does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Everything you enter stays on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising.

1. Who we are

HOS Simulator ("the app") is an Hours-of-Service simulation and learning tool for commercial drivers, operated by Rolando Ahuja. This policy explains how the app handles information. It applies to the Android application distributed through the Google Play Store.

2. Information the app handles

The app functions entirely on your device. The information you create — your duty-status entries (off duty, sleeper berth, driving, on duty), manually captured day totals, and your settings (language, rule set, home-terminal timezone) — is stored locally on your device only, using the operating system's standard on-device storage. This information is never sent to us or to any third party.

3. Information we do NOT collect

4. Permissions

The current version requests no sensitive permissions beyond what the operating system grants by default.

Planned feature — Activity Recognition: a future version may offer optional automatic detection of driving using the device's Activity Recognition sensor. If and when that feature is added, it will be opt-in, shown with a prominent in-app disclosure before any permission is requested, used only on your device to suggest a duty-status change, and never transmitted off the device. This policy will be updated before that feature ships.

5. Data sharing and sale

We do not share or sell any data, because the app does not collect any. No data is processed on our servers — we operate no servers for this app.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your data lives only on your device. You can clear it at any time by using the in-app reset, by clearing the app's storage in your device settings, or by uninstalling the app — which permanently removes all locally stored data.

7. Children's privacy

The app is intended for commercial drivers and is not directed to children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone.

8. Not a certified ELD

HOS Simulator is a simulation and estimation tool. It is not a certified Electronic Logging Device (ELD), does not connect to a vehicle's engine, and is not for FMCSA compliance or roadside data transfer. Always rely on your official ELD and your carrier's policies.

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes (such as introducing the optional Activity Recognition feature) will be reflected here before the feature is released.
